Stavanger counts its official founding year as 1125, the year Stavanger cathedral was completed. Stavanger’s core is to a large degree 18th-and 19th-century wooden houses that are protected and considered part of the city’s cultural heritage. This has caused the town centre and inner city to retain a small-town character with an unusually high ratio of detached houses, and has contributed significantly to spreading the city’s population growth to outlying parts of the Peninsula.
From Stavanger we are setting course offshore towards Kvitsøy. Kvitsøyis the smallest municipality in Norway with 568 inhabitants. Then we are continuing to Skudesneshavn, a town in Karmøy municipality. It is located on the southernmost tip of the island of Karmøy at the entrance to the Boknafjorden and Karmsundet strait.
Following the Karmøy north bound watching the stretch of beautiful white sandy beaches towards Avaldsnes. King Harald Fairhair chose Avaldsnes for his main royal estate in about 870 making it the oldest royal seat in Norway, before landing back at the harbour You will be guided thru the whole trip in english by our well informed pilotes.
